Improving Your Personal Life

Pausch’s insights on personal growth and happiness are invaluable:

  1. Don’t compare your life to others. Everyone has their own unique journey.
  2. Avoid negative thoughts about things you cannot control. Focus on the positive present moment.
  3. Set limits and avoid overdoing things.
  4. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Remember that no one else does.
  5. Avoid wasting energy on gossip.
  6. Dream more while you are awake.
  7. Envy is a waste of time. Appreciate what you already have.
  8. Let go of past issues and mistakes. Don’t let them ruin your present happiness.
  9. Life is too short to hate anyone. Choose love and forgiveness.
  10. Make peace with your past to enjoy the present.
  11. You are in charge of your own happiness.
  12. View life as a school and embrace the lessons it offers.
  13. Smile and laugh more.
  14. It’s not necessary to win every argument. Learn to agree to disagree.

Building a Stronger Community

Pausch also emphasized the importance of community:

  1. .Stay connected with your family by calling them often.
  2. Give something good to others every day.
  3. Forgive everyone for everything.
  4. Spend time with older individuals, as they have valuable wisdom to share.
  5. Try to make at least three people smile each day
  6. What other people think of you is none of your business
  7. Your job will not take care of you when you are sick. Your family and friends will. Stay in touch.

Life

  1.  Put GOD first in anything and everything that you think, say, and do
  2. GOD heals everything
  3. Do the right things
  4. However good or bad a situation is, it will change
  5. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up
  6. The best is yet to come
  7. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful
  8. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it
  9. If you know GOD you will always be happy. So, be happy.
While you practice all of the above, share this knowledge with the people you love, people you school with,
people you play with, people you work with and people you live with.
Not only will it enrich YOUR life, but also that of those around you.
We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.
Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted. And experience is often the most valuable thing you have to offer.
Never lose the childlike wonder. Show gratitude… Don’t complain; just work harder… Never give up.
I don’t know how to not have fun. I’m dying and I’m having fun, and I’m going to keep having fun every day I’ve got left.
When it comes to men who are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple. Just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.
If I only had three words of advice, they would be, Tell the Truth.

Randy Pausch‘s words continue to inspire and guide people towards a better life. Let us remember his teachings and strive to live by them.
